Daughters of the Sacred Heart Visit

Published July 8, 2014 by

The Mother General of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart, Sister Pauline Farrugia DSH, together with one of her General Councilors, Sister Leena Castelino DSH, came over to Tripoli between the 5th and 7th July to visit the nearly completed Nunciature which forms part of the complex of San Francesco Catholic Church.

The Daughters of the Sacred Heart is a Maltese founded Congregation of Sisters.  It was founded by Mother Teresa Nuzzo in the early 20th century.  The Congregation nowadays has a large Province of Sisters in Indian and in Kenya.  The Sisters had a house in Tripoli until February 2011 and they worked in a State Orphanage.

They have been invited by His Grace  Mgr. Aldo Cavalli to provide a community of Sisters for the Nunciature in Tripoli.  The visit of Mother General and her Councilor was organized in view of their probable presence in Tripoli in the near future.

On Saturday evening they had the occasion to meet Bishop Giovanni Martinelli OFM, Apostolic Vicar of Tripoli and on Sunday morning they were taken around the nearly completed Nunciature by Fr. Magdy Helmy OFM and Fr. Marcello Ghirlando OFM.  Sunday evening Sr. Pauline and Sr. Leena also met the two communities of the Mother Theresa Sisters, Missionaries of Charity.
