Next Thursday, 29th October Frs Joseph Ciappara OFM and Walter Vassallo OFM will receive the ministry of Acolyte during a Thanksgiving Mass by the Minister General at our Franciscan Parish Church in Sliema.  These two young men are presently studying at the University of Malta for the priesthood. Both Joseph and Walter are forth year students.  Next year the two students will be making their Solemn Profession.

During the following days, all the Friars of the Franciscan Province will be receiving a new revised Franciscan Directory for their own personal use. The new directory is full of relevant personal information regarding every Friar within the Maltese Franciscan Province. The features included are: Friars’ picture, mobile numbers, and email addresses together with their specific pastoral work. Also included is all information that regards administrative information of the province and friars who are working overseas. The complete work was done by Frs. Lorrie Zerafa, Joseph Vella and Alexander Borg.

Next week, the Minister General – Father José Rodriguez Carballo OFM together with the English speaking ‘definitor’, Fr. Francis Walter will be in Malta on the occasion of the 800 years since the approval of the Franciscan rule, on an invitation by the Minister Provincial Fr. Sandro Overend. The Minister General will be visiting and personally meeting all the Friars of the Maltese Franciscan Province. A general meeting with all the friars will then be held on Wednesday, while on Thursday, at our Franciscan Parish Church in Sliema, a thanksgiving Mass will close this important event.

The Franciscan Mission Office has recieved an appeal for help from Fr. John Muscat OFM, who has been living in in the Philippines for these last couple of years. The devastation done by Typhoon Ondoy has left many dead and thousand homeless. (more information on mission's website)
