Various friars from the Franciscan province left for Rome for the Canonization of Malta's first saint, St. Gorg Preca. The Canonization is going to be held on Sunday morning. On Sunday 3 June 2007, Pope Benedict XVI canonizes Blessed Simon of Lipnica, a new Franciscan saint, during the same celebration in which Blessed Gorg Preca will be declared as the first Maltese saint. Simon was born in Lipnica Murowana, Poland, in the period 1435-1440. June 02, 2007
In a letter sent to the Commissary of the Holy Land, Fr. Twanny Chircop OFM, Mgr Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo expressed his gratitude for the great experience that he had on his latest pilgrimage to the Land of the "fifth gospel" as he mentions the Holy Land.
