On the 26th of February, at the Capuchin's Friary in Floriana, the Minister Provincial Fr. Richard S. Grech, OFM led a celebration of the Lectio Divina where the Minister Provincial of the Capuchins gave an explanation of next Sunday's Gospel.  This is being done as part of the celebrations for the Year of Consecrated Life.

On the 25th of February the Apostolic Administrator Mgr Charles Scicluna paid a courtesy visit to Mgr Sylvester Magro. During their brief meeting Bishop Scicluna expressed his closeness between the two diocese in this particular moment and promised prayer to him, to the Franciscan Community and to the people.

On Tuesday 24th February, the Bishop of Gozo Mgr Mario Grech paid a courtesy visit to the Franciscan Bishop Mgr. Sylvester Magro who is currently in Malta enroute to Rome for the Ad Limina visit. Bishop Grech showed his solidarity to all the Franciscans working in Libya and also to the Christians that are still living there. On the other hand Bishop Magro after described the situation that they are living in, thanked him for his closeness. His Excellency Mons. Giovanni Martinelli ofm, Bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of Tripoli in Libya, has recently appointed Rev. Fr. Marcello Ghirlando ofm, as his Vicar General. Fr. Ghirlando is at present in Malta, delivering lectures at the University of Malta. Before he returns to Tripoli, he will be accompanying His Excellency Mons.Sylvester Magro ofm, Bishop of Benghazi in Libya to the Ad Limina visit next week with His Holiness Pope Francis. He will be representing Mons. Martinelli ofm who could not leave Tripoli. We congratulate heartily Fr. Ghirlando ofm for his appointment.

His Grace  Mons. Sylvester Magro ofm, Bishop of Benghazi, returned to Malta on Saturday the 21st of February, 2015. He will be flying to Rome on the 28th of February for the Ad Limina visit to Pope Francis. Before his scheduled return to Benghazi, Mons. Magro will spend a few weeks of well earned and much needed rest and will  also participate in the festivities held at St. Mary of Jesus Church in Rabat, in honour of St. Joseph, on the 19th of March. Here he is pictured with His Excellency Mons.
