Fr. Mike Perry OFM has been elected the new Minister General of the Franciscan Friars Minor. Fr. Mike succeeds Fr. Jose' Ridriguez Carballo elected Archbishop and Secretary for the Congregation of Consecrated Life. The Maltese Friars in Malta and abroad congratulate Fr. Mike on his election and wish himm success in this delicate and important mission in the Order and the Catholic Church.

On the 14th May, a day of recollection was organised for all the friars in our Retreat House in Baħar iċ-Ċagħak. The Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Malta, the Rt. Rev. Charles J. Scicluna, was invited to offer the Reflection in virtue of the coming Provincial Chapter 2014. The Bishop, while showing a true appreciation of the work done by the Friars in the Maltese Archdiocese, stressed on the importance of our Franciscan Spirituality as a living witness of Christ in the modern society. Fr. Twanny Chircop OFM, actually the Commissioner for the Holy Land in Malta, has been elected to represent the European Commissariats of the Holy Land in the Chapter of the Custodia Terrae Sanctae, to be held during the month of July 2013in Jerusalem.
