Minister General arrives in Malta

On the 27th October, the Minister General Fr. José Rodriguez Carballo OFM, together with Fr. Francis Walter, the English speaker ‘definitor’ arrived in Malta early in the afternoon for a three day visit.  They were welcomed by the Minister Provincial Fr. Sandro Overend OFM and the Vicar Provincial Fr. Richard S. Grech OFM.  On their arrival they were escorted to our Sliema Convent where he will be residing during his stay in Malta.  After meeting with the Sliema Fraternity, the Minister General was taken to meet the Hamrun Fraternity, where a congregation had gathered to meet him. The Minister General gave a brief speech. Also present for this occasion were the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary together with the Hamrun OFS group.

Soon after this visit, the Minister General was accompanied to visit our convent in Rabat where we have our House of Formation.  He had the opportunity to meet our young postulants and students, and visited both the convent and the seminary.  He had the opportunity to visit also l’ Isle Adam Band Club and the Sanctuary of St. Joseph. At 6.30 in the evening, accompanied by other Fathers, he took the ferry to meet the Gozo Fraternity where he was invited for supper.
