25th Anniversary of Ordination

frjimmy.jpgFr. Jimmy Zammit celebrates his 25th Anniversary of priestly Ordination on 29th June, feast of Saints Peter and Paul. He presides over a solemn Mass of thanksgiving at the Franciscan church of Saint Mary of Jesus in Rabat.

Fr. Jimmy was born in Toronto, Canada, from Maltese parents. He entered the Franciscan Order and studied in Boston, USA and in Malta. He was ordained priest on 13th June 1981 in our Franciscan church of Saint Anthony in Gozo by Bishop Nikol Cauchi.

During his 25 years of priesthood Fr. Jimmy was pastor at Saint Paul’s parish in Dundas, Toronto, when it was still under the care of the Maltese Franciscans. He was appointed Guardian and Director of Retreats at Porziuncola Retreat House, just after the renovation of the same retreat centre. Fr. Jimmy was a major figure in the organization of the Plenary Council of the Franciscan Order which was celebrated at Bahar ic-Caghaq in 1995. Subsequently Fr. Jimmy was superior of the Franciscan Maltese Mission in London. In 1997 he was called to the General Curia of the Order of Friars Minor as General Bursar, where he worked all through the six years in which Fr. Giacomo Bini was Minister General (1997 2003). At the end of his mandate Fr. Jimmy went back to Toronto, where he is currently pastor at the Immaculate Conception parish, which belongs to the Franciscan Province of the Immaculate Conception of New York.

We wish Fr. Jimmy AD MULTOS ANNOS.
