GIFRA in Cagliari

hands.jpgFrom the 14th to the 31st July, about 20 youth from the GIFRA in Hamrun and Rabat, together with Fr Joseph Magro, are going to Cagliari, Sardegna, to do voluntary work with children whose families have problems. These children take a 4-week break from home, and attend a summer school organised by the sisters of Mother Theresa. An Italian group is going to take care of the children for the first two weeks, and the Maltese group is going to take care of them for the next two weeks. The children are divided into 4 groups. A group of boys aged 5-8, a group of girls aged 5-8, a group of boys aged 8-12, and a group of girls aged 8-12. The voluntary group is divided into 4 groups as well, and each will take care of each group of children.

The 4 small groups meet regularly to discuss several activities for the children. These activities include crafts, drama, outdoor games, doctrine and prayers. Each group has to prepare a craft for each day (which has to be about 1 hour long), a play and dance (which will then be performed at the end of the two weeks), and several games to be played outside.

Each group has a name and colour. Both the voluntary group and the children will have coloured t-shirts. This will help us know which children are in our group, and the same holds true for the children.
