The Secretariat of State of the Holy See, through the Apostolic Nunciature in Malta, has appointed Fr. Marcello Ghirlando OFM to be its representative in the International Meeting in Support of the Israeli-Palestinian Peace,which will be held in Malta on the 12th and 13th of February 2010.
The International Meeting organised by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean will discuss the urgency of addressing the permanent status issues as regards Borders, Jerusalem, settlements, refugiees and water in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian Peace Process.
Fr. Marcello had already represented the Holy See in a similar International Conference on the Middle East Peace Process organised by the United Nations two years ago in June 2008. Fr. Marcello currently lectures at the University of Malta, also presenting a study-unit that introduces Judaism. He was Commissioner for the Holy Land between 1993-2002.
