Feast of St. Clare

The feast of Saint Clare of Assisi was celebrated on the 11th of August. The feast was celebrated with a Mass which took place at the Poor Clare’s Monastery at St. Julian’s.  A very good number of people, together with friars from the three Franciscan Orders attended the celebration of the Eucharist which was conducted by the Provincial Minister Fr Sandro Overend OFM.

During his homily, the provincial outlined the main characteristics of Saint Clare, mainly her simplicity in her way of life, and ‘Holy Providence’ in which Saint Clare had total faith. He continued to expand on the importance that St. Clare gave to communication; to which St. Clare is the patron Saint and how this has influenced the way of evangelising.  The Provincial Minister also stressed the relevance of the vocation of the Poor Clares in the world of today.
