On the 21st of September, feast of St. Matthew, Frs. Walter Vassallo OFM and Joseph Ciappara OFM professed their final vows at St Mary of the Angels’ church at Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq. Mass was celebrated by the Provincial Minister Sandro Overend OFM; together with the participation of other Friars and Priests, while family members, friends, and colleagues joined the celebration. In his homily, the Provincial Minister combined the call, to follow Christ in the steps of Francis, of both Walter and Joseph and urged them to continue to follow Christ by being guided by the Gospel.
Walter Vassallo will be continuing his last year of Theological studies, while Joseph Ciappara will, after finishing his current formation, will be ordained Deacon this coming October.
At the end of the Mass, Mro Hermann Farrugia Frantz director of ‘Coro Bel Canto’ directed the oratorio: – ‘Demm fuq il-Verna’. This production was in aid of the Honduras Mission, and a cheque of €1,530 was presented to Fr Lorrie Zerafa OFM who is responsible for the Missions. At the end, the Provincial Minister thanked them for the magnificent oratorio and for their generous donation.
