Today, the 23rd of December at about 1.30 pm; the corpse of Fr John Abela OFM arrived in Malta from Rome at the old Luqa Airport. The hearse passed by the Luqa Centre where an emotional crowd was gathered. These are the people with whom Fr John used to work, especially those from Luqa and members of his group ‘SKENE’
The funeral cortège proceeded to St. Mary of Jesus Friary [Ta’ Ġieżu] Rabat where a requiem Mass presente cadavare will be celebrated at 9.30am. tomorrow. (see separate stories for more information)
