Information on the situation in Benghazi and Tripoli

News have reached us about Mgr. Sylvester Magro OFM, Bishop of Benghazi, that although the situation has reached a certain amount of normality in Benghazi, it remains very sensitive. Mgr. Sylvester is serene and is staying with a religious community. Mgr. Sylvester is the pastor of a community of mainly Philippines and states that being a pastor and spiritually responsible for the well-being of these people; he feels that it is his duty to continue his mission with this community. These last few days, he has been able to re-open the church and celebrate the Eucharist, in a very cautious way. The Maltese province is responsible for the mission in Libya.

As we all are aware of, the situation in Tripoli is still critical. Moreover, the Apostolic Nuncio, Mons. Tommaso Caputo, the Maltese Bishops and other friars are keeping contact with the Bishops presently working in Libya. Mgr. Sylvester is very committed to his mission and is assured of our prayers.
