The Minister Provincial, Fr. Sandro Overend OFM is in continuous contact, every day mornings and evenings, with Mgr. Giovanni Martinelli OFM, bishop of Tripoli and Mgr. Sylvester Magro OFM, bishop in Benghazi in order to have the latest news on the situation of the Friars in Libya.

The friars are keeping well. Both Bishops are asking our prayers and up to now no serious incidents were reported to have happened to the religious communities present around Libya. The OFM Friars in Malta and around the world promised their prayers and their solidarity.

On the other hand, Fr. Sandro has contacted persons at the Maltese Foreign Affairs office and informed them of the present difficult situation regarding the friars present there.

The news about the situation in Libya, being also a Franciscan Mission, is also being communicated daily to the Franciscan OFM Minister General, Fr. Jose’ Rodriguez Carballo, OFM.
