SkondSanĠwann a new play by SKENE

SkondSanGwann(according to St.John) is the play which SKENE will be presenting at Metanoia Theatre (Luqa) for this year’s Holy Week. It is written by the late Fr. John Abela ofm and will be staged on Saturday 16th, Sunday 17th and Wednesday 20th April 2011 at 7.30pm.

SkondSanGwann is a play which does not follow the traditional lines of a passion play completely. The play aims at making us “stop and think”, “stop and remember”, “stop and be there”. We might call it an act of faith even if faith does not need to be the dominant key!

SkondSanGwann

The play transposes the story to a series of flashbacks as remembered by Mary and St. John himself. Skondsangwann is an experience that will help us experience and understand.  It is the story as written by St.John the Evangelist.  The story that happened 2000 years ago is still valid. There are those that heard and believed, those that saw and changed their lives… but like then there are also those who didn’t want to listen and those who were overpowered by evil.  SkondSanGwann is a constant struggle between the bad and the good, between wrong and right… who will win?

Among the main actors we find Andrè Penza, Mark Mifsud, Sarah Lee Zammit, Pamela Schembri, Raymond Darmanin, Tiziana Calleja, Chris Penza and Joseph Fenech. They will be flanked by new faces from SKENE’s theatre classes. The play is directed by Zep Camilleri and booking is now open on tel. 21806712 or mobile number 79792424.
