Mgr José R. Carballo, OFM visit to Malta

The Ex-Minister General and Bishop elect, Mgr. José Rodriguez Carballo OFM, has been in Malta to celebrate the 50th anniversary of St. Joseph’s statue in Rabat – Mdina, Malta, on the invitation of the Arch-Confraternity of St. Joseph in Rabat, Mdina, and the Franciscan OFM Province. He was accompanied by the General Secretary for Formation and Studies, Fr. Vidal Rodriguez OFM, Fr. Joseph Magro OFM, the Communications director at the general Curia, and his personal Secretary, Fr. Francisco Arellano OFM.

A plaque for the occasion was uncovered by the Bishop Elect outside the Parish of St. Publius in Floriana, in front of the granaries Square, where 50 years ago St. Joseph was crowned.

He presided a Con-Celebration to mark this anniversary at the Franciscan OFM Church of St. Mary of Jesus in Rabat on Sunday, 28th April 2013 at 10.00 am.

After the Con-Celebration, he visited the Oratory where the crowned statue of St. Joseph is kept during the year.

H then paid a visit to Palazzo Xara of the L’Isle Adam Band in Rabat, and was welcomed by the President and the Committee of the society.

Mgr. Carballo left Malta with his personal secretary to Rome on Monday, 29th April 2013.
