“The Ghaqda tal-Malti tal-Universita -1931”, a university association for the advancement of Maltese at the local university, organised a commemorative evening in honour of Marjanu Vella, a noted Maltese Franciscan priest poet who died 25 years ago. It took its title from a recurrent theme of the poet, “Nahseb biex immur” (It is time for me to go).

The speakers were Fr Norbert Ellul-Vincenti ofm, another Franciscan, who knew him personally both as a priest and as a poet, Professor Oliver Friggieri, Dr Adrian Grima and Dr Bernard Micallef. All have been involved in studies about the poet.
The commemoration took place at the National Library of Malta on December 12.
