Malta today celebrates the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. The Franciscan churches of Valletta and Rabat organize two devotional processions with the statue of the sorrowful Virgin beneath the Cross. The procession of Valletta is the oldest one in Malta and thousands flock to take part in it.

This year it will be the first time that Archbishop Paul Cremona will take part in the procession which leaves Ta’ Ġieżù Franciscan Church in Valletta at 5.30 pm. At the end of the procession the Archbishop will impart the Eucharistic blessing at Saint Paul Street.
