Walter and Joseph – New Novices

novices05.jpgIn an emotional ceremony to which a good number of friars attended, Walter Vassallo and Joseph Ciappara began the experience of the Franciscan way of life. The celebration began with a Mass by the Minister Provincial Fr. Paul Galea OFM. In his homily he pointed out the importance that Walter and Joseph should always live the Gospel parable of the leaves attached to the vine in connection.

After Mass the Rite of Initiation to the Franciscan Life began. The Minister Provincial asked various question to the candidates. A reading from the Life of Saint Francis by Brother Thomas of Celano was followed, and the Franciscan habits were blessed. First Walter, than Joseph were vested with the habit. They were welcomed by a warm applause from the congregation.

Joseph and Walter finished two years of postulancy in our seminary in Rabat (Malta). Now they are to continue the novitiate in San Damiano in Assisi together with other eleven young Franciscan novices.
