Visit to the Franciscan Sanctuary of Poggio Bustone

On Friday 7th and Saturday 8th November our temporary professed Brothers Ramon Farrugia and Clive Camilleri, who are currently doing their post-novitiate in Rome visited the Franciscan Sanctuary of Poggio Bustone for their monthly day of recollection.

These days of retreat for temporary professed are organised on monthly basis by the Roman Province in various friaries in Lazio and Abruzzo, and the opportunity to participate was also given to the friars of Convento San Francesco in Rome where our frairs are currently doing their formation.

The topic this month was “The Word of God and the presence of the Spirit” and the reflection was made by Br. Marco, formation director of the Roman Province. During the time of silence, one could go up the hill to the Sacro Speco where Francis and his first companions stayed and prayed. It is an excellent place for prayer and reflection, not only because it’s detached from any sort of distraction, but also because it is a very typical franciscan place; a place where one can really feel at home.

Past retreats where also done at the Ritiro di Bellegra and Fontecolombo. For more information about these Franciscan Sanctuaries visit http://www.santuarivallesanta.com/
