Installation of new Archbishop

On his way to Mdina, His Grace Mons. Charles J. Scicluna, the new Archbishop of Malta, stopped to pray in our church St. Mary of Jesus in Rabat and the Sanctuary dedicated to St. Joseph. Only a couple of days earlier His Grace celebrated a Solemn Pontifical High Mass on the 19th of March, during the big celebrations held in our church for the Feast of St. Joseph.

During his visit to our church Mons. Scicluna, the Minister Provincial Fr. Richard Stanley Grech ofm, presented to him on behalf of all the friars of our Province, an original of his baptismal certificate. Mons. Sciclina, who was born in Canada on the 15th of May, 1959, was baptised at St. Paul the Apostle church in Dundas, on the 30th of May, 1959, Toronto by the late Fr. Albert Vella ofm. Listed in his baptismal certificate were the dates of his ordination to the Deaconate, the Priesthood and his episcopal consecration. Mons. Scicluna was visibly moved with this surprise presentation.

On the same occasion, Fr. Raymond Falzon ofm, who also served at St. Paul the Apostle church in Canada, presented him with a cute handmade papier-māché caricature of the Archbishop. His Grace greatly enjoyed this presentation with his great and most natural sense of humour.
