Feast of St. Clare celebrated

St ClareOn Saturday 11 August in the evening the feast of St. Clare was celebrated at St. Clare’s Monastery.  At around 6.30 the Archbishop of Malta Mgr. Paul Cremona arrived at the monastery, where he conducted the festive Mass. Concelebrating with the Archbishop there were also the three Ministers Provincials and various friars from the three Franciscan Orders. The courtyard was packed with people too.

During his homily the Archbishop spoke about the virtues of St. Clare in connection with the Mass readings and the importance that St. Clare has in today’s world.  He also pointed out the importance of the Poor Clares Monastery in Malta as a grace.  After the Mass the Abbess delivered a speech where she thanked all those present and also the benefactors of the monastery and explained the way of life of the nuns in the monastery.

Furthermore, on Thursday evening the passage of St. Clare from this world to heaven was celebrated.  The celebration consisted in the evening prayers and was conducted by the three Provincials.  At the end of the celebration two messages were read on the life of St. Clare and a liturgical dance was conducted by the sisters in formation.
