Adoration Chapel in Sliema Parish

parishchapel.jpgOn Friday 10 February, after the 9.30 am Mass, a new Chapel for the Adoration of the Eucharist will be inaugurated in the Parish of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Sliema, by the parish priest Fr. George Bugeja OFM. The Chapel has the aim of being a living monument to commemorate the 125 years of the building of the Parish Church of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart.

The chapel is situated in front of the Parish office. It will be open everyday from 9 am to 9.30 pm.

The refurbishment work of the Chapel has been in progess since October 2005. The new Chapel has been designed by Fr. Jesmond Grech. The title given to the Chapel is “The Lord is my Rock”. These words are taken from 2 Samuel 2:22. They fit in the layout of the Chapel, which has a Lower Coralline Limestone (Żonqor) rock, placed upon two steps. On this rock the Eucharist will be exposed in a glass case for the adoration of the faithful.

For the inauguration ceremony Fr. George Bugeja OFM will celebrate Mass and after Mass transport the Eucharist from the parish church to the chapel. During the Eucharistic procession the various groups of the Parish will take part, including the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament. The Eucharist will then be exposed for adoration.
