On Monday 13th February in our Franciscan Sacro Cuor Parish in Sliema was celebrated the funeral of Fr. Sebastian Camilleri, OFM who on February 10th, 2017 passed away peacefully at Mater Dei hospital, comforted by the rites of Holy Catholic Church.

The funeral left Mater Dei hospital at 8.00am to the Franciscan Friary in Carmel Street, Sliema where at 9.15am the funeral cortege proceeded to Sacro Cuor Parish, Sliema for the funeral Mass presente cadavere at 9.30am followed by internment at the Franciscan Chapel in the Santa Marija Adolorata Cemetry.

Below, on behalf of his family a brief script:

In memory of Fr. Sebastian Camilleri OFM, OAM

Though we are saddened by his passing, our brother Sebastian will always be remembered as a loving family member who shared in many happy times with us and his extended family.

He is survived by his sisters, Gejta and Mary, and brother Lou, and 45 nieces and nephews in Australia.

His service to his parishioners and the communities in Metropolitan and Regional cities, and in the harsh lands of the outback in which he worked while in Australia showed his compassion, respect and desire to help those in need.

Though we were separated by a great distance, he was always close in our thoughts and hearts.

Our heartfelt thanks to those who provided comfort and assistance to him especially in recent times. He will remain close to our hearts always, loved and remembered every day.

He now rests peacefully with his other sister and brothers.

Love from Gejta, Mary, Lou (and extended family) Regards John Grech
