Pilgrimage to the Holy Land and Syria

holylandcross.jpgThe Commissariat of the Holy Land in Malta is organizing another pilgrimage to the Holy Land and Syria between 8 th and 18 th May.   Apart form visiting the Holy Places in Israel and Palestine, the group will also go to Syria, as well as to Mount Sinai, which commemorates the place where Moses received the Ten Commandments, and where there is a famous Byzantine monastery dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria dating back to the 5 th century.

The ten day pilgrimage will be guided by the Commissary of the Holy Land, Fr. Twanny Chircop OFM, who had the opportunity to visit these places in 2002 while on a sabbatical year of study in the Holy Land.   This pilgrimage will provide a new experience to come to know not only the Christian Holy Sites, but also the land of the Bible which extends from Egypt to Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and even Iraq.   This new way of organizing pilgrimages is an opportunity not to be missed.

Meanwhile, Fr. Noel Muscat OFM, who is currently residing in Jerusalem, has contacted Fr. Twanny by phone and assured him that there is absolutely no danger for pilgrims coming to Israel and Palestine, and that thousands of pilgrims are still making their way to the Holy Land for Easter celebrations.
