Imsallbin

imsallbinIMSALLBIN ( crucified ) is the new original play by John Abela ofm which SKENE will be presenting at Metanoia Theatre (Luqa) for this year’s Holy Week. It will be staged on Saturday 8th, Sunday 9th, Wednesday 12th and Sunday 16th April 2006 at 7.30pm. This is Fr. John’s 18th play for Holy Week!

IMSALLBIN presents the audience with a challenge. It is a spectacle which departs from the traditional “passion plays” to bring forth a very strong message. The event of the Crucifixion which took place two thousand years ago on a hill outside the city walls of Jerusalem was not only an historic event but a bondage of love between God and humanity. Looking at the Crucified Jesus even today’s mankind can see on that Cross the signs of the burdens of life and the suffering faces not only of far away persons but also those living “next to us”. Suffering, pain, famine, war, injustice, are just but burdens that crucify humanity. But so are also lack of love, selfishness, greed…

The main roles are played by Andrè Penza, Frida Cauchi, Joe Pace, Tonio Farrugia, Raymond Darmanin, Eleanor Cassar, Adrian Saliba, Sandro Farrugia, Mark Mifsud, Sarah Lee Zammit, Elisabeth Farrugia, Chris Penza… and others together with a group of actors who will form the “chorus”. The play is directed by the author himself and booking is now open (tel. 21806712; mobile 99030017).
