Fr. Marcello Ghirlando has published a 460 page volume entitled “Il-Bibbja f’idejna” (The Bible in our hands).  The volume contains introductions to all the Books of the Old and New Testament, and is the end result of a series of studies published in the Biblical Quarterly “L-Art Imqaddsa” of the Commissariat of the Holy Land in Malta.

Fr. Ghirlando is a biblical scholar and a lecturer of Holy Scripture at the Faculty of Theology of the Malta University.  He studied at the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum of the Franciscans of the Holy Land in Jerusalem, and at the Pontifical University Gregoriana in Rome, where he acquired his doctorate in Biblical Theology discussing his thesis on the theme of reconciliation in the Second Letter to the Corinthians.

In Malta Fr. Ghirlando is a well-known figure for his conferences, particularly on the mass media.  He is also a member of the Diocesan Commission dealing with the specialised ministry of spiritual healing and exorcism.

In the Franciscan Province Fr. Ghirlando is currently the Guardian of the Valletta Friary of Saint Mary of Jesus, and Secretary for Formation and Studies.
