The Secretariat of State of the Holy See, through the Apostolic Nunciature in Malta, has appointed Fr. Marcello Ghirlando OFM to be its representative in the International Meeting in Support of the Israeli-Palestinian Peace,which will be held in Malta on the 12th and 13th of February 2010.

The Minister Provincial, Fr. Sandro Overend OFM, will be attending the European Provincials (UFME) meeting to be held in Brussels from the 1st to the 6th February 2010. The Minister General and the General Definitorium will be also attending the sessions. A meeting with the Euro-parliamentarians will be scheduled during the week. The Provincial is expected back on Saturday 6th February in the late afternoon.

The January 2010 issue of “L-Aħbar” is again online as usual. It contains various news items and articles regarding our province and the Franciscan Order. The present issue has information on the Franciscan Pentecost, Lectio Divina, Fr. Stephen Ordination, together with other news from the province and more. On Tuesday 6 January the Franciscan Province was invited to the feast of the Epiphany at the Poor Clares Monastery in St. Julian’s. At 6pm the Minister Provincial celebrated the Mass of the feast, during which he stressed on the significance of the magi and their gifts in relation to today's world. (more…)
