Last week, The President of Malta, Dr. George Abela, visited our London Fraternity where Fr Stephen Sciberras and Fr Raymond Camilleri carry out their pastoral work.  His visit focused mainly on the pastoral work of the friars in their direct involvement with Maltese patients receiving treatment in various hospitals in London.  The visit which took more than two hours is the first official presidential visit to one of our houses.

On the 27th November, his Excellency Mons. Robert Camilleri OFM, Bishop of Comayagua, Honduras, Central America, nominated Fr Joe Bonello OFM as Vicar General of the Diocese. Fr. Joe has been in the missions, particularly in the parish of Santa Ana, at La Libertad in Honduras for these last twenty-one years. (more…)

On Saturday 19th December, Fr. Stephen Magro OFM will be ordained Deacon at our Franciscan Church at Ghajnielem Gozo by His Excellence, the Bishop of Gozo, Mario Grech.  In preparation for this occasion, a prayer vigil will be held at the Ghajsielem Parish Church on the 18th December at 18:30. The Franciscan Province on Saturday 21 November organised a Mass at the Addolorata Cemetery. The Mass is celebrated each year in the funerary chapel of the Province, during the month of November in order to pray for the friars who have left us and now rest in peace. The Mass was presided by the Minister Provincial Fr. Sandro Overend OFM and the friars were encouraged to concelebrate. After the Mass the blessing of the graves took place.

The Lord God works the Salvation Mysteries of Humanity in silence, occult to Satan….” My friends, this is one of the wonderful expressions found in the letters of St. Ignatius of Antioch, one of the Apostolic Fathers, who died in martyrdom around the year 110 AD.  His seven letters, authentic to the majority of scholars, have also arrived to us to-day.
