Currently our province has three Novices (Ramon, Andrea, and Clive) who are doing their novitiate in Assisi; and one student (Aaron) who is a student in Rome.  After four months of preparation in the Franciscan way of life in Assisi, and studies in Philosophy in Rome, today they will be sharing their experiences with us.  We would like to inform you that all comments written below will be sent to our novices in Assisi and to Aaron in Rome respectively.  The opportunity to write your comments will be available for the next two weeks. The coming Thursday, the 20th of January 2011, will be celebrated as a tribute to the late Fr John Abela OFM. The programme for this memorial celebration will begin at 7.00pm with Holy Mass. After the celebration of the Eucharist, there will be an introduction followed by contributions from various individuals who will eulogise his work and his unique personality. On Monday 27 December evening the Friars’ parents and relatives gathered at the Porziuncola Retreat House for the annual Christmas meeting. The meeting began with a Mass by the Minister Provincial Fr. Sandro Overend OFM in which he stressed on the true value of Christmas. He also referred to some of the joyful and sorrowful events of the province during this year.  These are  the nomination of Fr. Joe Bonello OFM as Coadjutor Bishop of the Diocese of Juticalpa, Olancho, Honduras and the passing away of some friars, including the most recent one of Fr. John Abela OFM. (more…)
