The Franciscan Province this morning Saturday 20 November organised a Mass at the Addolorata Cemetery. The Mass is celebrated each year in the funerary chapel of the Province, during the month of November in order to pray for the friars who have left us and now rest in peace. (more…)

On Sunday 17th October Fr Joseph Ciappara together with other six youth was ordained deacon by Mgr. Paul Cremona OP, Archbishop of Malta.  The Solemn Mass started at 6:00pm at the Mdina Cathedral. The rite of the ordination as deacon was performed by the bishop, by the laying of his hands on Fr Joseph, giving the investiture to the New Deacon, and the Giving of the Bible.  The whole Province joins in Congratulating Fr Joseph on this new step towards the priesthood. The Minister Provincial has returned from Montreal in Canada where he attended the Autumn Meeting of the OFM English Speaking Conference of Minister Provincials. Besides the US Franciscan Provinces, present for the meeting were also the OFM Lithuanian Province Minister Provincial, the Irish OFM Province Minister Provincial, who is also the President of the ESC Conference, and the British OFM Minister Provincial. Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. will ordain seven deacons on Sunday, 17th October 2010, at St Paul’s Metropolitan Cathedral, Mdina, during a concelebrated Mass starting at 6.00 p.m.  The new deacons are Br. Carmelo Aquilina OFM Cap; Stephen Attard from the Parish of Our Lady’s Assumption, Mosta; Br. Joseph Ciappara OFM; René Antoine Cilia from St George’s Parish, Qormi; Nicholas Dimech from St Nicholas’ Parish, Siġġiewi; Stephen Magro from the Parish of Our Lady of Graces, Żabbar; and David Torpiano from St Publius’ Parish, Floriana.
